NWS Weather Alerts Widget

This is an Android home screen widget to display current weather alerts from the US National Weather Service.

You can choose a county or state within the US (or the entire US) and it will display a list of all of the current weather alerts for that area on the widget. If there's more than fits, the list scrolls, and you can tap on an alert to open the full text of the alert. There is an accompanying app which can be used to configure what area you want and shows the raw feed data if you're really curious (though that part was mostly there for debugging, and might go away one of these days now that it all works). It does not currently do audible alerts (or any alerts), but that's probably coming soon.

I created this because I wanted a tablet on the wall in my kitchen to display weather alerts on the screen, and for all the plethora of weather apps out there, I couldn't find one that showed anything more than a (!) icon on their widgets for alerts, and you had to click through to find out what they were. Some of them would put the alerts into the notification bar, but that wasn't much better. So this one displays a list of the current alerts right on the widget, and that is the only purpose of the widget.

U kunt kiezen voor een provincie of de staat binnen de Verenigde Staten (of de hele VS) en het zal een lijst van alle van de huidige weeralarm weer voor dat gebied op de widget. Als er meer dan past de lijst scrollt, en u kunt tikken op een waarschuwing naar de volledige tekst van de waarschuwing te openen. Er is een begeleidende app die kan worden gebruikt voor het configureren welk gebied je wilt en laat het ruwvoer data als je echt nieuwsgierig (hoewel dat deel was vooral er voor het debuggen, en misschien nu weg te gaan een van deze dagen dat het allemaal werkt ). Het heeft op dit moment niet hoorbare waarschuwingen (of enige waarschuwingen), maar dat is waarschijnlijk binnenkort.

Ik heb deze, want ik wilde een tablet op de muur in mijn keuken te weeralarm op het scherm weer te geven, en voor al de overvloed aan weer apps die er zijn, ik kon niet op een vinden die iets meer dan een vertoonden (!) Pictogram hun widgets voor waarschuwingen, en je moest doorklikken om uit te vinden wat ze waren. Sommigen van hen zouden de waarschuwingen in de kennisgeving bar te zetten, maar dat was niet veel beter. Dus dit wordt een lijst met de huidige waarschuwingen rechts op de widget, en dat is het enige doel van de widget.
